Classes began in the newly refurbished high school in September 1998. Since that time, additional improvements have been made including: one classroom was made into a 24-station computer lab with Internet access and Windows 2000; another classroom was converted into a science classroom. All classrooms were networked within the building. Two practice fields were added by a cooperative effort of the Booster Club and the district. The District recently added a new varsity athletic stadium, 8-lane track, and tennis courts as well as refurbished the baseball stadium and the soccer field.

In the fall of 1968, Valley Center High School moved into its third and present location on a site of approximately 40 acres. The school consisted of three buildings; the Academic Building, 27,000 square feet; the Vocations Building, 10,625 square feet, and the Assemblies Building, 39,000 square feet. Two expansions occurred before 1996 that connected the Assemblies and the Academic Buildings, added ten classrooms, and a Media Center increasing the square footage in the high school by almost 100%. The additions included a varsity gymnasium (seating capacity of 2320); four additional classrooms, one for science; two new locker rooms; a training room; an all-purpose room available for wrestling; a physical education classroom and athletic storage room; a band room; additional student and staff parking lots; and 135 additional lockers. In addition, renovations were done to the existing classrooms, auditorium, cafeteria, and gymnasium including air conditioning; upgraded windows and lighting, telephone and intercom communication, fire alarm, and bell system; and upgraded climate system. Internet and cable access was provided for all classrooms.
